{"id":921,"date":"2012-08-10T10:09:28","date_gmt":"2012-08-10T14:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/?p=921"},"modified":"2012-08-10T10:09:28","modified_gmt":"2012-08-10T14:09:28","slug":"regulation-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/2012\/08\/10\/regulation-room\/","title":{"rendered":"Regulation Room opens comments for home mortgage consumer protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cornell University pilot online participation initiative <a href=\"http:\/\/regulationroom.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/regulationroom.org\/wp-content\/plugins\/regulationroom5\/images\/v2.0\/highcontrast\/header_regroom.png\" alt=\"Regulation Room\" width=\"251\" height=\"42\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/regulationroom.org\/\">Regulation Room<\/a> announced this morning it has opened a space for public comment on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.consumerfinance.gov\/\">Consumer Financial Protection Bureau<\/a>&#8216;s proposed rules (regulations) about new consumer mortgage protections.\u00a0 These proposals are prompted by problems revealed during the mortgage crisis:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The <abbr title=\"Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the agency proposing these rules\">CFPB<\/abbr>\u2019s rules would help ensure that mortgage companies communicate effectively with borrowers, keep good account records, and avoid certain practices that harm consumers.
