{"id":931,"date":"2012-08-17T14:13:30","date_gmt":"2012-08-17T18:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/?p=931"},"modified":"2012-08-17T14:13:30","modified_gmt":"2012-08-17T18:13:30","slug":"welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/2012\/08\/17\/welcome\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/files\/2012\/08\/Reading-Room_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-937 alignright\" title=\"Cornell Law Library Reading Room\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/files\/2012\/08\/Reading-Room_2-300x156.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/files\/2012\/08\/Reading-Room_2-300x156.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/files\/2012\/08\/Reading-Room_2.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>To our new students, faculty, and staff&#8211;welcome!\u00a0 And to those returning, welcome back!<\/p>\n<p>We were pleased to meet the incoming LL.M. students at their orientation this week.\u00a0 We&#8217;re now looking forward to meeting the new J.D. students at our Open House on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The library has seen some changes over the summer.\u00a0 The blog&#8217;s name has changed: We&#8217;re now <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/2012\/06\/29\/infobrief-the-law-library-blog\/\">InfoBrief<\/a>.\u00a0 Two of our research librarians, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/2012\/05\/31\/librarians-pat-court-and-jean-callihan-retire\/\">Pat Court and Jean Callihan<\/a>, retired at the beginning of the summer, and a new librarian, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/2012\/07\/09\/we-have-another-new-law-librarian\/\">Dan Blackaby<\/a>, joined us in mid-July as the Technology Services Librarian.\u00a0 A <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.law.cornell.edu\/library\/2012\/06\/21\/new-scanner-in-the-reading-room\/\">new scanner<\/a> in the Reading Room makes saving book and journal pages and other documents easier.\u00a0 Soft seating will soon be installed in alcove 4 of the Reading Room, and the Eating Area has new furniture too.<\/p>\n<p>The Reading Room windows offer a great view of the construction in progress in the courtyard.\u00a0 And a new exhibit, also in the Reading Room, includes pictures of previous law school buildings and construction projects.\u00a0 (Our website also has information about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawschool.cornell.edu\/library\/WhoWeAre\/Mission\/Buildings.cfm\">our building and its history<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>And finally, Cornell University has been named a top 5 outdoor university by the magazine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outsideonline.com\/adventure-travel\/Outside-University-05-Cornell-University.html\"><em>Outside<\/em><\/a>, a reminder to enjoy our beautiful setting in Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To our new students, faculty, and staff&#8211;welcome!\u00a0 And to those returning, welcome back!
